All the audio in this section was taken directly off my video camera's microphones.

Most of the videos on this page were shot with a Panasonic consumer-grade High-Definition video camera.  I will indicate when other cameras were used.  As you can probably tell from the excessive crowd noise, these are the actual audio files recorded off the camera's microphones - NOT taken from the sound desk outputs.  There has been no doctoring of the audio.  What you hear is what you get!

Rock-n-roll and Blues
    Band: Ambient Trash
    Song Title: "Your New Ringtone."
Where: The V.I.P. Lounge at the Hard Rock Pavilion after the Rush concert.
    When: June 29th, 2010
Who: Rob Brothers on Bass, Ronnie Sanborn on Guitars and Eddie Garcia on Drums/Percussion.
Genre: Ambient Trash is an all-original, insturmental progressive rock band (no cover material)
    Videographer(s): Patti March
Camera: Sony Cyber-shot - hand held.
Post-production: Pinnacle 14 HD.  Audio recorded off my Panasonic HD camera was mixed in to the Cybershot's audio to add bottom end.
Notes: Though there were numerous power issues at this venue, we endeavored to persevere, and got the show off the ground anyway.  Power limitations forced me to keep the bass guitar a little lower in the mix than I would normally.  Please notice the flickering, 60 watt light bulb on the stage every time a bass drum is hit.  This is a good indication of how crappy the power was.  In the industry, we call this a "brown-out!"  This was my first time mixing Ambient Trash.  They did one, 30 minute set with no sound check.

  1. Band: Seed
Where: Wiley's Place in Albuquerque, N.M.
    When: June 18th, 2010
Who: Rick Rael on Bass/Vocals, Paul Gaede on Guitars/Vocals and Brian McKay on Drums/Vocals.
Genre: Seed is an all original Rock band (no cover material)
    Videographer(s): Donnie Frank
Camera: Panasonic HD - on a tripod.
Post-production: Pinnacle 14 HD.  Audio straight off my Panasonic HD camera.
Notes: This was my second time mixing Seed.  They did one, 45 minute set with no sound check.  This was the first song of their set so I didn't get the entire song on video.

  2. Band: Ravenous
Where: Wiley's Place in Albuquerque, N.M.
    When: April 23rd, 2010
Who: Raven Guiterez on Vocals, Don Garcia Bass, Chris Ravin on Guitars/Vocals and Eric Nieto on Drums/Vocals.
Genre: Ravenous is one of Albuquerque's premier Rock-n-roll cover bands.
    Videographer(s): Donnie Frank
Camera: Panasonic HD - on a tripod.
Post-production: Pinnacle 14 HD.  Audio straight off my Panasonic HD camera.
Notes: Ravenous is one of my first and most regular clients.  I have been mixing sound for them since I started my sound company in 2007.  Please forgive the audio, as some of it may be distorted because of the camera microphones.  Ravenous is also one of my LOUDEST bands.  The camera microphones can only take so much sound pressure!

The other show was a support show for Blue Oyster Cult.  This was the second or third song of their set.  I mixed on a Midas Verona and was afforded roughly half the P.A. system.  With those limitations, it was tough to get the bass and drums the way I wanted them.

  3. Band: Mr. Black
Where: Inn of the Mountain Gods casino in Ruidoso, N.M.
    When: July 24th, 2010
Who: Andy Ramos on Vocals/Guitar, Eddie "Two Moons" Chavez on Bass, Chris Norman on Guitars/Vocals, Jamie Harris on Keyboards/Vocals and Brandon McCutcheon on Drums/Vocals.
Genre: Mr. Black is one of Albuquerque's premier Rock-n-roll cover bands.
Videographer(s): Donnie Frank and Patti March.
Camera: Panasonic HD on a tripod and a hand-held Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1.
Post-production: Final Cut Pro.  Audio taken straight off my Panasonic HD camera.
Notes: Mr. Black is one of my regular clients.  I have been mixing sound for them since I started my sound company in 2007.  I mixed on a SoundCraft sound desk and house system.  With stringent limitations set on the P.A. system, it was tough to get the rest of the band above the snare drum.  I basically had the system tweaked to go as loud as it possibly could without distorting it.

  4. Spanish Music...

    Band: El Gringo
Where: 4th of July festival in Los Lunas, N.M.
    When: July 4th, 2010
Who: El Gringo on Guitar/Vocals.  Unfortunately I don't know who the other players are.
Genre: El Gringo is a Spanish band who has been performing in N.M. for many years.
    Videographer(s): Donnie Frank
Camera: Panasonic HD - on a tripod.
Post-production: Pinnacle 14 HD.  Audio taken straight off my Panasonic HD camera.
Notes: This was my first time mixing El Gringo.  As always, I was afforded no sound check.

  5. Funk...

    Band: Gregg Daigle Band
Where: Out on the patio at Sandia Casino and at Low Spirits in Albuquerque.
    When: July 23rd, 2010
Who: Gregg Daigle on Guitar/Vocals, Greg on Sax, Tim Pederson on Drums/Vocals, Justin on Bass/Vocals.
Genre: The Gregg Daigle Band is a Jazz/Funk combo who has been performing in N.M. for many years.
Videographer(s): Donnie Frank and Patti March.
Camera: Panasonic HD - on a tripod.
Post-production: Final Cut Pro.  Indoor video: Audio taken straight off my Panasonic HD camera mixed in with board mix.  Outdoor video: Same as indoor video without the board mix.
Notes: This was my first time mixing Gregg Daigle and was also my first time mixing in-ear monitors.  The band seemed happy with my performance as an in-ear monitor engineer...<:^)

  6. Country...

    Band: Redneck
Where: The lounge at Art Silva Lanes in Albuquerque.
    When: February 18th, 2011
Who: Brian Daniel on Guitar/Vocals, Tim Brown on Acoustic Guitar/Vocals, Jim Brown on Drums/Vocals, Dave Brown on Bass/Vocals, JR on Pedal Steel.
Genre: Redneck is a Country band who has been performing regionally in the Southwest for many years.
    Videographer(s): Patti March.
Camera: Sony Cybershot - on a tripod.
Post-production: Sony editing software.  Audio taken straight off the Sony Cybershot camera.
Notes: This was my first time mixing Redneck.  The band seemed happy with my performance as an audio engineer...<:^)
